Hardware Video Conference devices are combination of PTZ Camera, Microphone and speaker tightly integrated with Hardware device named CODEC ( which inturn is combination of Video Conference software along with Digital Signal Processors (DSP) used to process this software. The Video Conference endpoint's depending on the brand and Model number have capability to connect One to One and Few Higher end models have capability to connect upto 5 participants in the Video conference. For connecting more locations at the same time hardware MCU ( multiparty conference unit) is required which is available in Multiples of 12port and is quiet expensive.
Peoplelink's Software based Hybrid Video Conference Technology gives users the choice to use PTZ Camera or web cameras , Microphone, Speaker based on the Room Size and number of participants. Software codec is installed on a Computer and utilizes the mluti Gigahetz processor of PC instead of using DSP and surely all the latest PC processors are more than 10 times faster than using dedicated DSP technology of hardware based solutions. PeopleLink uses in built MCU technology which is scalable upto thousands of locations and can be upgraded in multiples of 1, thus removing the need of additional Hardware based MCU which is very expensive.
